Bill Miller, Jr., is the co-owner and co-founder of Carlisle Events, a title he has held since 1974 when he and the late Chip Miller (no relation) hosted Post War ’74. The Carlisle Events concept and Post War event came to fruition after Chip and Bill were “asked to leave” a local show because the vehicle they were showing was not deemed to be an antique car. By giving a home to all types of vehicles, specifically those manufactured post-war, the Millers took a singular show, now known as Fall Carlisle, and turned their passion into a business that is responsible for nearly $100 million in local economic impact. In addition to being the leader of the company, Bill works closely with many non-profit organizations, including the local branch of The Salvation Army...
Employment
Bill Miller is, was and always will be a car guy. It was his love for automobiles that sent him to work full-time at Sausman Chevrolet in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. He began as a salesman, working his way up to sales manager, then general sales manager. Eventually Bill owned his own dealership, followed by multiple dealerships. Miller owned a Ford dealership in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania and two Chevrolet dealerships -- one in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and one in Woodbine, New Jersey. He also co-owned a Volkswagen dealership in Carlisle with Chip Miller, his long-time friend and partner at Carlisle Events. He continued his dealership involvement until he sold his last dealership in 1995. This occurred during a time when the events at Carlisle were becoming too popular for Miller to keep both jobs.
Education
Miller is a 1961 graduate of East Pennsboro High School and attended Harrisburg Area Community College as well as Messiah College.
Personal
Bill is a central Pennsylvania native and has been married to his wife Peggy since 1967. Peggy has been a wonderful mother and has supported him through all his endeavors over the years. Peggy and Bill have two children, Bill III and Kristine. Miller also has three grandsons, Christopher, Skylar and Greyson.
Hobbies
Bill enjoys spending time in Florida, fishing and antique collecting. Also important to him is his active participation in community events, non-profit leadership and fundraising.
Dream Car
“I love the Kaiser Darrin, which was made by the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation in the 1954. This fiberglass-bodied sports car was created to compete with Chevrolet's new sports car, the Corvette and for me, it’s a true classic. Along with my love of the Kaiser, I really enjoy collector cars that are original and have never been restored.”
Favorite part of working at Carlisle Events

We at Carlisle Events treat everyone who walks through our gates as guests and guests are to be treated as family - welcome to the Carlisle family!”

Lance is the son of Chip Miller, co-founder of Carlisle Events, who in the early ‘70s formed Carlisle Events with his good friend Bill Miller, Jr. (no relation). Over the decades, Carlisle Events has grown from an initial event held in 1974 to what is is today, including the world's largest largest all-Corvette Show, Corvettes at Carlisle as well as 5 collector car auctions powered by Carlisle Auctions. Corvettes at Carlisle attracts over 50,000 visitors during a four-day period with over 2,700 registered Fun Field participants and at least 5,000 Corvettes overall on-site. Lance began running the Corvette show after the passing of his father Chip from a rare disease called Amyloidosis. Lance was born in York, Pennsylvania in 1972. He literally grew up at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. To quote him, “I’ve done everything from cutting grass to garbage patrol to event management. There really is nothing in this business that I haven’t done.” Lance was raised in an automotive environment from the time he was born. In Lance’s case, Corvettes were always in the fore front, as his father, Chip, was and still is recognized as one of the foremost experts and leaders in the Corvette hobby...

When his father passed away in March of 2004, Lance returned to Carlisle Events as the Event Manager of Corvettes at Carlisle. In January 2007, Bill Miller, Jr. announced that the next generation of the two Miller families, Lance and Bill Jr’s son Bill III, were going to carry on the tradition of operating Carlisle Events at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. The two men carried the title of Senior Manager. In 2009 Lance purchased his mother’s share of Carlisle Events to become 50% partners with Bill Miller Jr.

This was an emotional time and a large accomplishment. Other hobbies include surfing, auto racing and enjoying friends.

As my father would often say… Life is good!”

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and our family moved all around Ohio as my father traveled the state introducing a new type of tire, the radial tire. This exposure got me hooked to everything on wheels. I first started attending Carlisle Events in the early 80’s and the rest, as they say, is history. Since my first appearance on the fairgrounds, I’ve participated with Carlisle as an attendee, a media editor, an ARMO board representative, a vendor, a buyer, a sponsor, an auction bidder and buyer and partner of Carlisle Events. This experience puts me in a perfect position to work with other like-minded business owners who want to grow their brands.
